Missions at our Church
Individually or in groups, our people serve as volunteers at such places as ADRA Morisset Op-Shop, Cooranbong Community Services Centre, Medi-Sonship and Kukudu Clinics in the Solomon Islands, Operation Food for Life in Papua New Guinea Church Building programs in Borneo, a hospital in Nepal and orphanages in Africa and Cambodia.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Australia works with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change through empowering partnerships and responsible action.
Cooranbong Community Services Centre
Service provides EMERGENCY RELIEF (personal assistance is given through providing food, clothing, bedding, household goods, furniture and appliances). The centre facilitates local community interests and organisations by providing a congenial venue in which they may meet. Local clubs and associations, aspects of community health, arts and crafts, social occasions, seminars and work shops. All services are free unless there is a hire fee for the hall.
The mission trip is the latest expression of a 10-year relationship between Hillview and Kukudu — a connection that inspired the South Pacific Division (SPD) to launch the Adopt-a-Clinic program that now sees local churches in Australia and New Zealand sponsoring 42 rural and remote clinics in the Pacific islands.
Operation Food for Life
Inspired by the example of Jesus, Operation Food for Life seeks to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support, bringing dignity and hope to the poor, the forgotten and the disadvantaged.
Sonship has as its basic philosophy the service of our fellow human beings, particularly in the Solomon Islands, where shipping and boats are the only means of transport.
